Longacres Stud

Stud season is rapidly approaching Ladies and Gents.
Please when you are on the look out for a suitable sire for your mares take these few pointers into consideration :
, Make sure when ever possible you visit the stud, check out the pasture and how many mares are kept together on a group.
, Check out the fencing, are the fields well maintained, are there available stables should your mare need one,
, Meet your chosen sire in his home environment, you should if his temperament is good be able to handle him, you should also be able to see him out of his stable.
, Try if possible to see youngsters from him.
, Make sure the stallion has a valid BREEDING LICENCE, ask for proof. (without this you wont get studbook papers for your foals)
, If he has competed check his competition record.
, Make sure the stud owners are professional and experienced.
Make sure your chosen stallion is CEM and EVA tested for the coming season.(ask to see the certificates.
, Ask what covering certificate you will be issued with.
, Very important, make sure to ask all involved costs and stud terms (I know as a stud owner we don,t always know how long we will have the mare) but stud should be able to keep you updated.
, Make sure the stud is happy for you to visit your mare while she is with them.
, This is relevant to mares who are going to stud for Natural covering, Some is also relevant to mares who are being AI,d
, Don,t be frighted of asking Questions, there is not such a thing as a silly question, and make sure all your questions are answered clearly.
, You should also be able to contact your stud owner without any problems. ( we answer out calls 24/7)
, If your not totally relaxed with the service and the stallion Don,t Do IT !!!!!!!
, Facebook is a very strong tool, check Facebook posts from previous clients and also stud posts..DO YOUR HOMEWORK !

Makes me so proud to see his great success ..
